Like I so helpfully suggested to myself in the closing of yesternight's blog, today I turned webpagetest.org on the newly christened Coryspage, then set up a Git repository for it.
As I expected, WebPageTest offered some helpful tips on securing my web site with some security headers that are standard practice among secure sites. Luckily, unlike the first time around where I tried to wrangle with the behemoth of a full Jellyfin instance running through a reverse-proxy while learning about http headers for the first time, I had a fairly easy go of it, simply reusing most of the setup I had created before.
Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, the Content-Policy police came to clonk me with a nightstick when they saw my remotely-loaded Youtube embeds. After a couple hours trying to figure out how to send more permissive headers to only certain pages, while retaining the more secure defualt 'self' origin header everywhere else, I was in action. One down, one to go. 😎
Setting up Git was pretty simple, as I expected, even though I STILL DON'T REMEMBER THE STUPID COMMANDS TO SET THE NAME AND EMAIL! (BTW after this I decided to make this the topic for the first entry in my tutorials section of my site!
The interesting and new part was figuring out how to avoid sending git repositories along with the rest of my site when uploading it with Filezilla. Apparently, it's as simple as
View->Directory Listing Filters
in the top bar, and selecting source code repositories. Another point for you, Filezilla. Now I know why I would always see an FTP client window open whenever I looked over my dad's shoulder when he was managing a website when I was a kid; they are really pretty nifty.
All that completed, I think I might just pick up where I left off with the C book, or just loaf around for the rest of the day.
Workout Update: Today was 110 squats with the 15 pound kettlebell. After I started to correct my form and take each squat slowly, I went from pumping them out to struggling to push back up after each one. I don't know if I could have gotten to where I did if I was being concious about it from the beginning, I guess I will see in a few days!
